Taking a break

To all the people who are following my blog, I wanted to just drop a note.  I have started an MBA program and will be taking a break for a while.  I am hoping to work a bit on it over Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Stay tuned.

Driveline Completed

So I finally got the driveline mounted.  I will weld on an additional support and get some #8 bolts for mounting the bearings.  It turned out really well.  Thanks to my friends who helped with the carrier shaft.  Next task will be to mount the body to the frame;   get the steering, clutch, gas and brakes (pedals mounted) done.

Carrier Bearings and Shaft

It has been a while since I posted.  It took a while to find the right bearings and decide what would be the best carrier bearing for the shaft.

You can see the step on the right side spline going from right to left.  I had to be creative and use my lathe at home and set up an air grinder to grind the diameter down so that the spline end will extend through the carrier bearing.  It worked out ok on the left.  I'll grind the other side next.

Carrier Bearing is rated at 9,000 rpm and has a clamping collar system on the other side.  I will be making the moutning bracket next.

Driveline done!

So excited to have the drive shaft extended.

Driveline is done:  Now the carrier bearings need to be ordered and mounted onto the frame!  Thanks so much for my friends who helped me with the driveline and the carrier shaft.
